Jul 10, 2020 Spotify App Keeps Crashing How to fix Here is a list of troubleshooting tips to follow in order to get the Spotify app to stop crashing: Close the app fully and then reopen it. Download this app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10. See screenshots, read the latest customer reviews, and compare ratings for Spotify Music. The background Spotify process loads before the SD card is mounted, so Spotify does not see the SD card where your downloads are then it starts downloading to the available internal memory. The solution is to install or move Spotify to the SD card and in that way delay the app's background process to load.

Losing your music just straight up sucks. We've all had the experience of jamming out while running errands and then, all of a sudden—boom—your music app crashes and you're left alone, the silence deafening. There's a good chance your music app of choice is Spotify, considering it's got 286 million users, and if that's the case and you're experiencing a slight hiccup in service, check out this guide for tips on how to troubleshoot the app.
1. Log out and restart Spotify
Sometimes things can go wrong at startup. It happens with a lot of software or hardware, which is why 'turn it off and on again' is such a common problem-solving suggestion among techies.
Spotify Free App
First, log out of your Spotify account. Then exit by forcing the app closed — make sure it's not still running in the background. Depending on your phone, there are a couple ways to do this:
Android:
- At the bottom of the screen are three buttons often seen as three lines, a square, and a back arrow. Hit the leftmost button, the three lines, to open the recent applications menu. You can either tap 'close all' to force all the apps closed or scroll through to find and close only Spotify.
iPhone:
- Users with iPhone X or later models can get to their recent applications menu by swiping up from the lower part of the screen, then pausing in the middle. People with iPhone 8 or earlier models have to double-tap on the home button.
- When you're in the menu, swipe through the apps to find Spotify, tap and hold it, then slide it up to close it.
Once you've fully shut down the app, open it and log in again with your fingers crossed.
2. Check your internet connection
Spotify Premium users can save playlists for offline listening, but free users have to be connected to the internet at all times to get to their music. Most likely, if the network you're using goes out, then your device might automatically switch to using mobile data instead. The switch shouldn't cause any problems as you use Spotify, but be careful: The app can easily burn through any data allotment you have with your provider, which can get expensive if you get hit with overage charges.
If your device doesn't switch to mobile data, and your internet connection goes out, Spotify will basically become non-responsive. Your track list might be grayed out, the play button won't work, and there may be error messages that say you're offline.
The solution is to check your device's network connection by looking at the wifi symbol in the upper-right corner. If it looks like the connection is weak, usually indicated when the symbol displays only one or two bars, you might want to switch to a stronger network. If you're at home, you can try restarting the router to fix your connectivity issues.
3. No outages? Make sure the app is up to date
Server outages can happen very suddenly and without warning. Earlier this month, Spotify was one of many apps that crashed due to Facebook tweaking something with their developer kit (that many apps rely on). In a case like this, it's not you or your device's fault when Spotify isn't working, and there's nothing users can do until the problem is fixed. To check for an outage, go to Downdetector or Spotify's official status Twitter to see what's going on.
If it's not an outage, make sure the Spotify app is updated to its latest version. Google Play and the App Store will both have an 'update' button if you want to make the app update as soon as possible. Otherwise, the update could be scheduled for a later time, rendering the app unusable until then.
4. Uninstall for a clean start
If Spotify still isn't working, it's time to let your anger flow and dump the app into the trash. Delete the app by holding down on the Spotify icon and pressing 'delete' or 'uninstall' to get rid of it. Then, reinstall the app from its store page.
Sometimes, this fresh reinstall can solve the problem. How do i get spotify free on alexa.
5. Hey, are your earbuds working right?
What if Spotify is working now, but you're still not getting any sound? It's time for an earbuds and headphones check. Is the cord pushed into the headphone jack all the way? Are your wireless earbuds charged and connected to your phone through Bluetooth properly?
Restart Spotify App Download
If Spotify is working on your computer but not on your phone, then you might have to take your mobile device out to get repaired. Hopefully, your problems will be one of the more easily solved ones above, and you won't have to splurge for another phone or a pricey speaker fix.
Spotify changed the way people listen to and discover new music. It has become a force to be reckoned with, and only a few can match the fantastic music streaming service. I recently started using Spotify, and I faced a little trouble getting it to work. Spotify was not working on my Windows 10 PC though it worked fine on my Android.
It took me some time to go through all the settings and sift through the support forums to find solutions that actually worked. Without further ado, here is a list of solutions that will help you resolve the same and get Spotify working on your Windows 10 computer.
1. Relaunch Spotify
It is possible that the Spotify app didn’t launch correctly and this may have led to an error. To check, simply click on the red ‘x’ on the right side of the window to close Spotify. Give it some time to shut completely.
Wait a few seconds and relaunch to check if everything is working as intended. If not, don’t worry, we have got more tricks up our sleeve.
2. Reboot PC
I keep recommending this solution in almost all of my Windows 10 guides. Rebooting the PC is a good idea to resolve errors without doing much of tinkering around things. Simply click on the Windows icon and select Restart.
It will take a few moments, so you can take this time to decide what you want to listen to next on Spotify.

Several users reported that killing the process associated with Spotify in the Task Manager helped them resolve the issue. Sometimes, the process never stops properly or continues to run even after the app is closed. And when you launch an app, like Spotify, Windows gets confused because according to it, Spotify is already running. Dumb, I know. That happens even though you have closed the app.
https://zkxgmwt.weebly.com/blog/noah-mac-hold-back-the-river-spotify. To kill the process, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc shortcut on your keyboard to launch the Task Manager and under the Processes tab, look for Spotify.
When you do, right-click on it to open options and select End task. Wait for a few moments until Spotify disappears from the Task manager. Now relaunch it to check if it is working or not.
4. Hardware Acceleration
Many Spotify users have claimed that unchecking the Hardware Acceleration option helped them bring sanity to their life. If you can open the Spotify window, press the Alt key on your keyboard and under the File menu, select View.
Now uncheck the Hardware Acceleration option and close Spotify. Wait a few moments and relaunch it again to check if it is working or not.
5. Reinstall Spotify
If you are still haven't managed to fix Spotify, then it's possible that there is something wrong with the installation files of Spotify. Do not skip this paragraph thinking uninstalling means clicking on the Uninstall option in Control Panel. There is more to it.
Hit the Windows key on your keyboard and right-click on Spotify to select the Uninstall option.
If the app asks you for confirmation, click OK. Now Press the Windows key+E on your keyboard to open the File Explorer and navigate to the below folder structure.
You need to delete the Spotify folder here. If you are unable to view AppData under YourUsername, right-click on Quick access and select Options.
Under the View tab, click on Show hidden files, folders, and drives option and then click on Apply and OK. You can now see the hidden folder named AppData.
Do not install Spotify from the Windows Store. https://zkxgmwt.weebly.com/blog/download-music-for-free-from-spotify-playlist. A Spotify support staff has recommended users to install it using the ‘full installer package.’ That means follow the link shared below and install it from there.

Spotify uses audio drivers to deliver music to your ears, and if the drivers are missing or not up to date, you are in a fix. Download Driver Easy using the link below. Run the program. Driver Easy will scan your Windows OS and suggest missing drivers for many apps including audio if any.
If you find audio in the list, follow the steps to download and install the latest version. The free version will work fine. However, note that you can only download one driver at a time as the free version doesn’t support parallel downloads. Still, it saves time as you don’t have to hunt for the drivers on the wild web manually. If you can, you may go that route. Either way, update your audio drivers.
Download Driver Easy7. Compatibility & Admin Mode
Navigate to the folder where you have Spotify installed on your drive. Usually, it’s the C drive. Right-click on the Spotify.exe file and select Properties. That will only work if you have installed Spotify using the link I shared above in the point 5, and are using an OS older than Windows 10. If you don’t meet both the criteria, skip this point.
Spotify App For Pc
Under the Compatibility tab, select Run this program in compatibility mode for and select the Windows OS version that you are using.
In the same tab, also select Run this program as an administrator. Click on Apply and OK. Relaunch Spotify and check if the issue is resolved.
Discover, Listen, Repeat
Spotify is a fantastic app for music streaming which you can use to discover new music and listen to them. It sucks when the app fails to work on Windows 10. Some users have suggested using the web version as a workaround, but that is not really a solution, just an alternative. You might do it if none of the above solutions worked for you.
